The Memorial Garden was created in the courtyard of the Pilgrim House, providing a place to enjoy quiet reflection and the beauty of nature. It is also a place for the ashes of church members or their families. Other people, who family members are buried elsewhere, may wish to remember them by contributing to the Memorial Garden.
Church members or their families who wish to arrange for the placement of ashes in the Memorial Garden may contact the church office or the minister for more information. A committal service will be planned and conducted by a member of the clergy in consultation with the family of the deceased and the minister of the church. Ashes will be interred directly into the ground without containers. A marker will be placed at the
location with the name and date of the deceased. Names of members or family members who are not interred in the Memorial Garden, but in whose memory gifts have been made to the Garden, will be recorded in a Memorial Book located in the Pilgrim House. A chart is maintained in the church office showing the location of each interment of ashes. Although it will not be on public display, it will be available for inspection.
There is no fee for the committal service but donations are, of course, accepted and help cover the costs related to the internment and markers and care of the Garden.
Perpetual care of the Garden will be assumed by the church.
