Music Ministry & Choir
Music can praise, glorify, comfort, teach, guide, inspire and enhance our lives and our faith. We believe that music in the church setting is an act of worship, and therefore open to all who wish to participate. There are no auditions for the Senior Choir. All interested singers are welcome to participate on either a weekly or occasional basis.
The Choir sings at all Sunday morning worship services from September through June, at the Christmas Eve 5:30 p.m. service and the Maundy Thursday Tenebrae evening service. We perform a diverse selection of music throughout the course of the year, ranging from traditional anthems to newer selections, in a variety of musical styles. The choir is open to adults and high school students, and rehearses on Sunday mornings at 8:45 a.m. in the chapel/parlor.
The bell choir is a multi-generational group, using a two-octave set of handbells. It performs during the worship services at various times between September and June. Rehearsals are held after the worship service on Sunday morning, ending at approximately 12:30. New members are welcome, and previous experience is not required.
The pipe organ is a 20 rank, Reuter two-manual organ, installed in 1971. It is located in the balcony at the rear of the sanctuary.
“Music Sunday” worship services – when the choir, soloists and bell choir perform extra music during the service in celebration of worship through music – usually on the last Sunday in June, and occasionally throughout the year.
